Most of us have a simple way of taking care of plants. We water them in the morning, perhaps again in the evening, and usually give the same treatment to everything growing around us. It is an easy routine, but it assumes that every flower has similar needs.

They don’t. Some flowers may need watering every day, while others may only need it once a week. One may need a small amount of water, while another may need considerably more. Weather conditions can change those needs as well.

The challenge isn’t necessarily remembering to water your plants. It is knowing what each individual flower actually needs.

That’s where CoinGarden enters.

Start With a Picture

Before you can care for a flower according to its needs, you need to know what you’re growing. Maybe you bought an unfamiliar plant from a nursery, received one as a gift, or noticed a flower in your garden that you couldn’t identify.

Instead of searching through websites and comparing photographs yourself, you can simply take a picture. CoinGarden uses AI to automatically recognize the flower and can identify information such as its name, type, gender, and family. You can also add details such as its age and the date it was last watered.

You don’t need to know the name before you start. The flower itself is enough.

Once the flower is identified, its information stays connected to that particular flower, making it easier to find again when you need it.

When a Few Plants Become a Collection

Remembering one or two plants is easy, but collections grow. You might have plants from different nurseries, flowers you’ve received as gifts, and others you’ve grown yourself. After a while, remembering the name, age, and details of every flower becomes less straightforward.

CoinGarden gives each flower its own digital record, so you can return to the information associated with that particular plant instead of starting the identification process again.

There is also a practical way to connect that digital information with the real flower sitting in front of you

Put the Information on the Pot

CoinGarden can generate a QR code for each flower that you can place on its pot. Anyone who scans the code can see the information associated with that flower.

That can be useful in everyday situations. A visitor can find out what they are looking at, someone helping with the garden can identify a plant without having to ask, and a flower being displayed or sold can carry its information directly on the pot.

The physical flower becomes the shortcut to its digital information.

Why You Shouldn't Water Every Plant the Same Way

Now consider a garden with 30 or 50 flowers. You could water everything at the same time because that is your routine, but different flowers can have very different watering needs.

Some may need water every day, while others may only need it once a week. The amount can differ too. One flower may need a small amount of water, while another may need considerably more. Weather conditions can change those needs as well.

CoinGarden uses information about each individual flower together with weather forecast data to determine when watering is needed. It then sends daily notifications to let you know which flowers require attention.

Instead of creating a separate watering schedule for every plant, you can check CoinGarden and see which flowers need attention based on their individual needs and the current weather conditions.

For someone with a few plants, that may simply be convenient. For someone caring for a much larger collection, it can make keeping track of different watering needs much easier.

You still do the watering. CoinGarden helps you know which plants need it and when.

What If You Have an Entire Garden?

The same idea works beyond individual flowers. CoinGarden allows you to upload a photograph of an entire garden and indicate how many flowers are in the image. The app can then automatically recognize the individual flowers.

If a flower isn’t recognized, you can provide its name. You can also add its age and last watering date for each flower.

Instead of simply having a photograph of your garden, you can use that photograph as the starting point for identifying the individual flowers growing in it. A garden may look like one beautiful scene from a distance, but caring for it means understanding the different flowers growing inside it.

From Identification to Cultivation

Knowing the name of a flower is useful. Knowing what that information means for its cultivation is even more useful.

CoinGarden is designed to help users plan cultivation according to the flower’s type, the season, and the weather conditions where it is located. This connects identification with the practical side of growing.

So the question doesn’t stop at “What is this flower?” It moves toward “What does this flower need?”

That is where identifying a flower becomes more than simply finding its name. It gives you information that can help you make better decisions about how to cultivate it.

Built by S2KDesign

CoinGarden was built by S2KDesign to bring these different parts of flower care together in one mobile experience.

The goal is not to make plant care another complicated task. It is to make it easier to identify what you are growing, understand its individual needs, and keep the relevant information accessible when you need it.

Discover, Grow, and Share

But caring for flowers isn’t the only reason people take photographs of them. We photograph unusual flowers because we want to know what they are, photograph flowers we grow because we’re proud of them, and share them because other people enjoy discovering them too.

CoinGarden brings that part of the experience into the picture. Your flowers can become part of a collection that you can discover, photograph, and share with a community of people who enjoy flowers and gardening.

Taking Care of Plants, Taking Care of Ourselves

Taking care of plants is also a way of taking care of ourselves. They make our surroundings more pleasant, bring a touch of nature into our living spaces, and can contribute to better indoor air quality.

There is something rewarding about watching a plant grow because of the care we give it. We look after them, and in their own way, they take care of us in return.
